Things to Prepare Before Transferring

Before initiating the transfer, ensure you have the following information readily available:

  • Your BDO online banking username and password (if using BDO Online Banking): Make sure you have these credentials handy to log in securely.
  • Your registered mobile number for BDO Online Banking (if applicable): This number will be used to receive a one-time password (OTP) for verification purposes.
  • The recipient’s 11-digit GCash registered mobile number: This is the number associated with the GCash account you want to transfer the money to.
  • The recipient’s full name: This information might be requested during the transfer process for verification purposes.

How to Transfer Money From BDO to GCash

Below we describe briefly and clearly the two methods that you can use.

A. Transferring via BDO Online Banking

1. Access BDO Online Banking: Open a web browser and visit the official BDO Online Banking website https://www.bdo.com.ph/personal.

2. Login to your Account: Enter your BDO Online Banking username and password in the designated fields. Click on the “Login” button to proceed.

3. Navigate to the Transfer Menu: Once logged in, locate the “Send Money” or “Transfer” option on the BDO Online Banking homepage. This might vary slightly depending on the specific interface version you’re using.

4. Choose “To Another Local Bank”: From the transfer options, select “To Another Local Bank”. This will initiate the process of transferring funds to another Philippine bank account, including GCash.

5. Proceed Without Template (Optional): If this is your first time transferring to a GCash account, you likely won’t have a saved template. Choose the option “Proceed Without Template” to continue.

6. Select Transaction Details

  • Transaction Type: Choose “Credit to Other Bank”.
  • Account to Debit: Select the BDO account you want to transfer the money from (Savings, Checking, etc.).
  • Amount: Enter the amount you want to transfer to the GCash account.

7. Enter Recipient Information

  • Bank: Select “GCash [GXI]” from the list of banks.
  • Account Number: Enter the recipient’s 11-digit GCash registered mobile number in the designated field.
  • Recipient Information: Provide the recipient’s full name (Last Name, First Name, Middle Initial). You might also be prompted for the recipient’s mobile number for verification purposes.

8. Review and Confirm: Carefully review all the transfer details, including the recipient’s information and the amount to be transferred. Once everything is accurate, click “Confirm” to proceed.

9. Verify with OTP: You will receive a one-time password (OTP) via SMS on your registered BDO mobile number. Enter the OTP in the designated field on the BDO Online Banking website and click “Submit” to finalize the transfer.

10. Note the Reference Number: The BDO Online Banking platform will display a reference number for your transaction. Keep this number for future reference in case you need to inquire about the transfer.

B. Transferring via BDO Mobile App

1. Download and Launch the BDO Mobile App (if not already done)

  • Download the BDO Mobile App from the App Store (for iOS) or Google Play Store (for Android) if you haven’t already.
  • Launch the app and log in using your BDO Mobile App username and password.

2. Tap “Send money” located at the app’s home screen. Scroll down then choose “To Another Local Bank”. When prompted, select “GCash” from the options.

3. Select “Proceed Without a Template” when prompted.

4. For transaction type, select “Credit to Other Bank”.

5. Choose the BDO account that you’ll get the money from. The money can come from your savings or checking account, or your cash card.

6. Indicate the amount that you’d like to send. Select “GCash” from the list of destination banks.

7. Type the GCash number of the recipient. Provide the following information about the recipient: last name, first name, middle initial, mobile number, and purpose of transaction.

8. Indicate the purpose of the transaction in the “Template Description” section. Check the details of the transaction then press “Confirm.”

9. You will be shown the transaction details in a new screen. Once reviewed, select “Continue.”

10. You will be shown a confirmation message telling you that the transaction was successful. You can screenshot this page for future reference.
